I began hunting when I married my husband Tom. He was big into archery deer hunting, so he bought me a bow and taught me how to use it. My first shot with my new bow I put one arrow into the other!!!!My first time in a tree stand and I was hooked. Its not just the hunt but the stillness.....sitting in a tree and being quiet. Then it hits you.....the sound of the woods, the smell of fall in the air, watching the different animals scurrying about while you sit there quietly and them none the wiser to your presence. Then as you sit there enjoying the quiet and the scenery you hear it. The rustle of the leaves, the crack of a twig being stepped on and out the deer steps into view! Now comes the all new feeling........your heart starts pounding and you swear the deer is going to hear it. The adrenaline rush is unbelievable. You wait and try to compose yourself for the perfect shot. Then it happens the deer moves to the perfect spot, you have a great broadside shot so you draw back your bow and put your pin on the kill zone. You release and hold your breath........your arrow finds its spot and the deer is off. AHHHHH you want to shout "I GOT ONE" , but you know you need to be quiet and not spook the deer you just shot. So I grab my radio and call my husband Tom.....ME - I did it, I got one!TOM - what did you get. ME - I got a doe. TOM - where did you shoot it and did you watch which way it went?ME - Kill zone shot and yes, it went southwest.TOM - ok, sit still and I will come and get you in a half hour and we'll track your deer.We tracked her for about 40 yards and this is her.
